Faculty of Economics is part of the Technical University in Košice, one of the most prestigious and influential university in region. Faculty was founded on 8th of July 1992 and provides education both in Slovak and English language and has been voted as best faculty of economics in Slovakia.

The aim of Faculty is to provide high-quality and professional education in field of economic science. Faculty contributes to development of society, forming regional economics, provide advanced education and services in fields of research and consultancy. Vision of the Faculty is to become well-known and demanded student institution where education will drive its graduates to responsibility, democracy, critical and creative thinking as well as free scientific reseach and cooperation with partners in open Europe.

Currently, there are more than 1000 Slovank and international students enrolled in present and external form. Studium has 3 levels: Bachelor, Masters and Postgraduate degree in Finance. Faculty has 5 departments, which can be visited at Božena Nemcova street in Košice.

International cooperation

Faculty of Economics in Košice is involved in various programmes supporting international mobility of students and teachers. There are teachers coming to Košice from partner universities: BU Wuppertal in Germany, University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, University of Versailles in France, Petru Maior University of Targu Mures in Romania and others.

Faculty also coooperates with various student organisations, such as BEST, AISEC and promotes extracuricullar activities for students.

  • About the program: Finance includes an introduction to basic finance and furnishes the students with useful skills, analytical tools, and perspectives which provide a sound basis for financial decision-making. Banking – prepares students to become successful in a branch which demands effective banking skills. Successful bankers are gregarious and assertive. The aim is to bring students into contact with real life banking problems, through which students also acquire a number of managerial techniques.
    Investment – covers investments and asset pricing, option and derivatives pricing, and portfolio management with applications to financial models and data. It is appropriate for highly numerate students with a strong background in economics, who wish to pursue careers in financial institutions or in industry which call for such advanced analytical skills.

  • About the program: Public administration provides an overview of the theoretical fundamentals, substance, and limits of modern public administration. It examines the conventional management functions in the legal sphere performed by public administrators as well as current issues and problems in the field. It provides a conceptual and practical framework for students wishing to proceed further with careers in the public sector and non-government organisations.
    Regional development examines the dimensions and causes of regional growth and development, the theories that give explanation of the growth and decline of regional economies, and the policies and strategies used to endorse regional development. The programme deals with programming and project management in the public sector with a special focus on regional and structural policy of the European Union.

  • About the program: The PhD programme is strongly research oriented. The composition of the programme is designed to provide training in theoretical and empirical research methods in Finance. Students achieve deep understanding of the fundamentals of financial economics (asset pricing, macro- and micro-economics, public and corporate finance, investment) as well as the methodology (statistics, econo­metrics, empirical methods) essential to get a high level in research. The programme stimulates doctoral students to engage in critical, innovative thinking, by encouraging them to participate at an early phase of their study in suitable international conferences and colloquia and following publishing their results in well respected journals.
